A fresh start deserves a fresh cut!

This year, Berea Seventh-day Adventist Church was proud to host Fresh Cutz 2026, a youth-centered community initiative designed to help local young people head back to school looking and feeling their best.

Through the generosity of our community and the commitment of talented local barbers, 40 families were served with free back-to-school haircuts and hairstyles. What began as an idea to provide a practical service became an opportunity to connect with families, encourage young people, and remind our community that everyone has a place at Berea.

Fresh Cutz is about more than a haircut. It is about confidence, connection, and community. We believe that small acts of service can make a meaningful difference in the lives of young people as they begin a new school year.

Meet the Barbers Who Made It Possible

We extend a heartfelt thank-you to the talented professionals who donated their time and skills to make Fresh Cutz 2026 a success:

Tyrone “Yogi” Williams
Yogi’s Plus Barbershop – Central Nyack

Yogi has been a valued community partner, bringing his talent, professionalism, and commitment to young people to the Fresh Cutz initiative.

Anouce Baltazard
Community Barbershop – Spring Valley

Anouce generously shared his time and expertise to help make sure our young participants received a quality haircut and a positive experience.

More Than a Haircut

For the families who participated, Fresh Cutz provided more than a complimentary service. It created a welcoming environment where parents and young people could connect with members of the Berea community while preparing for the first day of school.

We are especially grateful to the families who trusted us to be part of their children's back-to-school experience. We hope each young person walked away not only with a fresh cut, but with a renewed sense of confidence and the knowledge that their community is cheering them on.

Fresh Cutz reflects Berea's commitment to being a “church without walls”—a church that doesn't simply exist within the community, but actively engages with and serves it.

Looking Ahead

Serving 40 families this year is something worth celebrating, but we see Fresh Cutz as just the beginning. We look forward to building on this initiative, welcoming more community partners, and creating additional opportunities for young people and families to connect, grow, and thrive.

To our barbers, volunteers, donors, families, and everyone who helped make Fresh Cutz 2026 possible: thank you for helping us put service into action.

And to every student who received a Fresh Cutz haircut—we wish you a successful, exciting, and blessed school year!

Fresh cut. Fresh confidence. Fresh start.

That's what Fresh Cutz is all about.
