The Public Affairs and Religious Liberty department of the General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists exists for one simple reason:
We work to position the Seventh-day Adventist Church and its services to a standing of credibility, trust, and relevance in the public realm.
What does PARL do?
PARL operates at every level of the Church—globally, regionally, and locally. Leaders across world divisions, unions, conferences, and congregations work together to help decision-makers and thought leaders understand who Seventh-day Adventists are and how they contribute to society.
Working in collaboration with other church departments, PARL advocates for public policies that support: Health and education Human dignity and human rights Environmental stewardship Peaceful coexistence The protection of women, children, and vulnerable populations
A central focus of PARL is the promotion and defense of religious liberty for all people, regardless of belief. From its earliest history, the Adventist Church has upheld religious freedom as a fundamental, God-given human right. PARL also supports members who face discrimination or persecution because of their faith.
How does PARL work?
The daily work of PARL resembles that of a representative body, engaging governments, international organizations, and civil society to advocate for freedom of conscience and human dignity.
